SECU is offering assistance with FAFSA
If you missed out on getting assistance with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on October 29 – FAFSA Day, additional help is on the way. SECU (SECU) will be offering its support to college-bound students and families the week of Dec. 5-9, during normal business hours in all 257 offices statewide. Branch personnel will be available throughout the week to answer questions and help with the completion and electronic filing of the FAFSA for the 2017-2018 college academic year.
2016-17 Early Release Days
Union County Public Schools will have four Early Release Days during the 2016-17 school year. The days will allow teachers and staff to participate in professional development sessions. On Early Release Days, lunch will be served and buses will run according to the adjusted schedule. The After School Program will follow the Early Release Schedule and end at 6 p.m. Click here to access schedules for year-round and traditional schools.
The district will hold a Career Fair on Friday, December 9, from 4 – 7 p.m. at Central Academy of Technology and Arts (600 Brewer Drive) in Monroe, NC. School administrators and support staff directors will be available to talk to prospective employees about positions in instructional and non-instructional areas.
The clenched fist raised high in the air has historically been a symbol of solidarity, strength and resistance. For a group of theater students at Central Academy of Technology and Arts, it has become a symbol of unity to fight oppression.
Business and education leaders joined forces over the past few days for the fifth annual BizEd Week, an opportunity that allows the community to go inside schools and witness first-hand the exciting things happening in Union County Public Schools.
About 80 parents, grandparents and other family members spent the morning reliving the high school experience at Forest Hills High School Tuesday, Nov. 15 during Bring Your Parent to School Day.
